The Project

Hello, Stranger.

Let's talk about what I'm trying to do here.

There are far too many books to read. Just too many options, all the time. How do you pick?

It seemed like a good way to get a cross-section of quality books over many decades was working through awards.

To that end, I'm trying to read every book that has won a Hugo, Nebula, Locus, or World Fantasy Award.
Why these four? I was planning to do only the first two until I stumbled upon a spreadsheet of all four on Reddit.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the genre evolves with time, what standards change, and how modern authors build upon earlier work.

I'm also building a list of further recommendations from others, which were either sent to me directly or included as comments when I posted a number of more concise book reviews, also on Reddit.

I made a few errors on that post, actually, as I sorted by date of publication as opposed to prize year. So there are a couple of 1960s winners in that 50s post.

That's the long and short of it. I'm buckling down to read a whole bunch of books, and happy to get suggestions for more. Or if you'd like to send me a physical book to read, Stranger, that'd be cool too! Feel free to send me a message through the contact form on the side.

That's the plan, Stranger.
I don't think I'll forget to read a book!

  1. I really enjoy reading through your posts, I am an avid Scifi/Fantasy reader/collector and your posts are in some ways a guide for my collection.
